Following last month's uplifting offering 'Silence In The Room', Bella Union signings Psychic Markers' new single 'Clouds' expresses a similarly euphoric sentiment. "Written from the perspective of a child who I feel should be encouraged to let the imagination run wild, look up to the clouds, the stars and be free,” vocalist Steven Dove's lyrics are refreshingly naive. Set against motorik beats, percussive guitars chug as strung out synthesizers tumble through a melancholy chord sequence. Lifted by ethereal female backing vocals, guitarist and ex Still Corners touring member Leon Dufficy let's loose around the 2 minute mark, unleashing an overdriven Robert Fripp-esque guitar riff that echoes his work on David Bowie's iconic 'Heroes'. Psychic Markers' self-titled album will arrive on the 29th of May. -Holly Mullineaux
